How would you like our city to look in ten, twenty, or thirty, years. Our riverfronts, our Fairmount Park, our neighborhoods, our shopping areas, our Parkway?

The Philadelphia City Planning Commission is beginning the process of preparing our city’s first comprehensive plan in more than 40 years.

Philadelphia is roaring back with new housing, new residents, world-class architecture, and a new recognition that it’s “America’s Next Great City”.

People across the city have exciting visions for our future. It’s time to pull it all together.

‘Imagine Philadelphia: Laying the Foundation’ is beginning a listening tour to help broaden the conversation to encompass all Philadelphians, all industries, and all aspects of our city’s future from housing, preservation, transportation, urban design and industry.

The Planning Commission wants to hear ideas from the people throughout the city and work together to create a clear plan for our future.

These public meetings will provide crucial public input for a comprehensive plan, as well as the Zoning Code Commission, as it reforms regulation of land use in our city. Our work started with small roundtable talks in July.

When it’s over, we’ll share what we’ve learned. Join us for these meetings to share ideas and prepare for Philadelphia’s future.

Let’s please think of something to do to improve Penn’s Landing. There is so much potential for a more flourishing area there.

Annie I cannot agree with you more. I have always thought we should be doing more with our river frontage.
We need only to look at what other cities have done so much better than us. Some improvements have been made but we still need an overall vision and plan.
Please try to attend one of the meetings and put in your two cents.
Thanks for leaving a comment, stop by often.

As part of this future plan, is there going to be any funding for the inner city neighborhoods that have been neglected
over the years? There has been funding to improve Center City and areas surrounding Center City, but there has not been an effort to help the citizens of Philadelphia in these neighborhood
    to maintain there aging homes.

Hi Alberta and thanks for making a comment.
Please check out this link for some existing programs which help homeowners
    throughout the city. http://www.phila.gov/nti/programs.htm

I certainly think what happens to older citizens on fixed incomes, in all of our neighborhoods, is a problem that needs to be addressed.
