PHILADELPHIA CITY HALL COMES ALIVE ON THANKSGIVING DAY WITH THE OPENING OF CHRISTMAS VILLAGE

November 21st, 2008 · No Comments

Opening Thanksgiving Day, the German American Marketing, Inc. group, in cooperation with the City of Philadelphia, is operating a month-long Christmas outdoor shopping event on Dilworth Plaza. The open-air Christmas Village in Philadelphia pledges to be a light-filled extravaganza, with choir and orchestral performances, a sea of evergreen trees, and more than 50 vendors marketing their wares.

At the center of the experience will sit the red-suited, jovial Santa Claus himself. The Santa’s House photo booth will be operated and hosted by Firefly Photography, a Rittenhouse Square photography studio. “We’re hoping to provide a unique portrait studio with Santa to compliment the Christmas Village,” said owner Kathleen Ferry.

The Firefly staff is comprised of local artists, photographers and Philadelphia Art Institute students. Ferry, with a background in portraiture, has uncompromising ambitions; “I want the photographs to capture a warm, wintry moment in time - on the children’s faces and in the parents’ memories.”

Firefly Photography will be offering a variety of Santa photo packages, snow-globes, and keychains. Monday evenings have been designated as “Pet Night with Santa”. As a special incentive to visit and make a purchase at Santa’s House, Firefly is offering $100 gift certificates for their studio services at half price.

In a gesture to the season’s spirit, Firefly will be donating a portion of the Santa’s House proceeds to two local organizations: The Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House, which provides a supportive home environment for families of seriously ill children, and Project H.O.M.E, the local non-profit organization which combats homelessness.

The Christmas Village has arranged for a parking discount in a nearby lot for residents outside Center City. The Plaza is also well-served by Septa’s lines.

Santa’s House will be open daily between November 27th - December 24th from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm.

Firefly Photography of Rittenhouse Square is proud to present Santa’s House 2008 at the Philadelphia Christmas Village located at City Hall. Santa will be waiting to meet all of the children of Philadelphia starting on Thanksgiving Day. He will be there until Christmas Eve this holiday season.

Children will be able to drop off their letters to Santa and get their pictures taken with him. Portrait packages, along with photo keychains and snowglobes, will also be available.

Firefly Photography is located in Rittenhouse Square Philadelphia. The company specializes in wedding & event photography, baby and family portraits. They have just recently added maternity portraits to their list of services.
