In the newspapers was this story: On July 25, 1946, two black sharecropper couples were shot hundreds of times and the unborn baby of one of the women cut out with a knife at the Moore’s Ford Bridge. One of the men had been accused of stabbing a white man 11 days earlier and was bailed out of jail by a former Ku Klux Klan member and known bootlegger who drove him, his wife, her brother and his wife to the bridge.

Through World War II John and his family benifited under the democratic government of FDR.

By the time John was 16, in 1952 he knew ‘American in Paris’ was chosen as Best Picture, Best Comedy show on TV was ‘The Red Skelton Show’, Nobel Peace prize was awarded to Albert Schweitzer (French Equatorial Africa). John was formed by these mid-century events. It is his heart and soul. The music from that long ago is the background of his days. He is a good ol guy and we have to respect when he says he does not understand economics, the internet, or modern times. It does not make him any less than a good and decent person.

Your grandfather or grandmother are still good people even if they don’t understand the world of today.

John McCain served his country in the past and will serve Arizona, (the land of retirement) well into the future.

Wow! He’s sure got a long history. Sort of explains why he doesn’t know how to use a computer. But he picked a young person with a short history for a running mate to balance out the ticket…. a very conservative NRA member who believes creationism should be taught in schools…perfect for the many low and middle income conservative leaning folks, and undecided independents, many of whom may care about single issues more than getting out of this insane war, restoring our reputation abroad, saving social security, covering the uninsured in a way that doesn’t make the insurance industry more profitable than the Bush administration made them, or slowing down the fast rate at which the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer.

Politically, she makes Obama look incredibly seasoned, but the scary thing is, as second in command to a 72-year-old, she would be a lot closer to being the most powerful leader of the free world than Joe Biden would be ever be. My friends are saying they are nuts to pick her. I think it’s brilliant. She’s perfect for the right wing, and I suspect many wealthy folks and much of corporate America could care less who the veep is. They are working so hard to preserve the unbridled profiteering they’ve been able pull off during the Bush years that they are whistling Dixie over having someone who will get the poor and middle class to vote against their own economic interest.

Another four years of Bush policies is just intolerable. Carrie says she will move out of the country of McCain wins. I can understand that totally. That’s one of the reasons I took off for Europe for six months when Nixon was elected.
