Everyone should have a home bar. Not a bar in your home, but a place within easy walking distance from your home. It has to be comfortable, serve decent food and beverage by friendly waitstaff, and not set your budget back too much.
For us Bridgid’s Restaurant in Fairmount is that place. Over the course of a year, we find ourselves there more often than anywhere else. When you come home from work too tired to prepare a meal or just want to break routine, it’s, “Lets walk around to Bridgid’s”. When friends call at the last minute saying, ‘let’s grab a bite to eat, do you have a place?’ We go to Bridgid’s.

The food is simple but satisfying. The wine and beer selection is interesting. It is a great place to sit and talk. Many people choose to sit at the bar while eating and it sometimes becomes like a communal meal. Victoria, the barmaid, handles the often crowded bar with aplomb.
In the back are just big enough tables with just comfortable enough chairs. Just a guess by me, but that room holds about thirty. The tables are easily moved around so what was a table for eight can quickly be changed to four tables for two. If you have a large group be sure to call ahead. 215-232-3232 to give them a heads-up.
Bridgid’s does not take reservations. On really busy nights there is an upstairs dining room with the same warm friendly-ness of downstairs. On a busy weekend the wait could be 30 to 60 minutes, so plan to take a walk through the beautiful neighborhood or have a drink at the bar.
The people who go to Bridgid’s span your imagination. Lots of single’s out with friends, dating couples, neighborhood folks old and young, it is a friendly place, so it attracts a variety of people. When you visit please let them know you heard about them from PhillySpeak.
