Bishop’s Collar, 23rd and Fairmount, Bar and Restaurant.

May 14th, 2008 · No Comments

Much like today will be, last Tuesday was such a wonderful weather day in Philadelphia. Everyone was out and about.

We walked to the Bishops Collar at 23rd and Fairmount and put our name in for an outdoor table. Among the many draft beers we went with local Yuengling lager. If you are a tourist and can get this on draft you won’t be disappointed.

Jeannie, takes care of the bar during the day. Here she is serving a Guinness with its bishops collar.

The Collar is a comfortable, affordable, bar with a good sized back room and outdoor tables where you can enjoy interesting bar food.

We had just finished our first round of drinks when a table opened up outside. Mary, our pretty and personable wait-person, took our order for a second round while we decided what to have.

Sitting there watching the world go by, chatting with friends, enjoying the weather, sipping on a cool drink, can it get any better? Yes! the food is served.

I had a large Portobello Mushroom stuffed with tasty Blue Crab meat, capped with a mild cheese sauce and fantastic spicy red sauce.

My friends both had Chicken Quesadillas. These are so good with tender grilled chicken breast, tomaotes, onion, a spicy blend of cheeses, with a refreshing tropical salsa and sour cream, served atop of a grilled tortilla.

The next time you are in the Art Museum area be sure and stop here for an inexpensive, relaxing, informal respite at lunch or dinner.
